Getreidegasse

Shopping in the old town

One of Salzburg’s traditional passageways (c) Tourismus Salzburg

With the guild signs above your heads and the passageways to the left and to the right, the Getreidegasse boasts a great and inviting flair for strolling and shopping. Many international clothing chains occupy shops here, but also old family businesses claim their place. Our tip for fans: the Red Bull Shop. Our tip for a quick and hearty snack: the Balkan-Grill in one of the passageways to Universitätsplatz, where the Bosna, a kind of hot dog, was invented. Our tip for curiosities: the shop which offers Christmas accessories in every season.

Linzer Gasse

In Linzer Gasse, exquisite boutiques and trendy shoe shops lie door to door with rummage shops and stores displaying unusual goods. Also watch out for the former Engel drug store where the poet Georg Trakl once served as an assistant. Certainly worth a visit are the traditional restaurants and cafés with open-air seating which are perfect for lunch or a sundowner.

Kaigasse

If you want to shop souvenirs without being overrun by the all-too-present mix of Mozart and local costumes we recommend a visit to Kaigasse. Just opposite Kapitelgasse, the first thing you will see is The English Shop where you can buy all kinds of things from Shortbread to Marmite. Those who prefer the American way of life should head to Goldgasse where you can find a shop with diverse beautiful and edible things from the USA. Back to Kaigasse, a few metres up the street the smell of soaps made from sheep’s milk will touch your noses. And The Living Store or PurPur are perfect to find some nice and charming decoration articles.

Europark Shopping Center

You would rather enjoy the greatest diversity of brands and shopping for hours? Then Europark Shopping Centre is the place to go. From trendy clothes and shoes to sports garments, cosmetics and beauty to electronics you can find everything your heart could wish for on 36.000 square metres. You can easily reach Europark Shopping Centre by taking bus No. 1 from the main station.
