Public Bus

The closest bus stop is located only five minutes by foot away from the Kolping Hostel Salzburg (Erzherzog-Eugen-Straße). The bus 6 stops here and takes you directly to the city centre (ca. 10-15 minutes to the old town).

Cheaper tickets are available at the newsagents (kiosks) or at the ticket machines. Alternatively you can also buy your ticket directly at the bus driver. We recommend a 24-hour travel card that is valid on all public transport in the city. If you stay more than three days buying a 7-day travel card is probably the best and cheapest option. There is a discount for children between the ages of 6 and 15.

The municipal railway serves as a great means of public transport. It allows quick and direct connections in the city and the region around it. The closest railway station is located at Salzburg central station. The Salzburg railway connects the main station with the surrounding region with the following intervals:

  • Salzburg central station to Saalachbrücke/Freilassing (some trains run to Berchtesgaden) – every 30 minutes
  • Salzburg central station to Golling-Abtenau – every 30 minutes
  • Salzburg central station to Straßwalchen – every 30 minutes

Local Railway Services

The local railway is perfect for trips to the north of Flachgau. It runs every 30 minutes from the local railway station, which is located on the basement of Salzburg central station. The local railway offers the following connections:

  • S1 via Bürmoos to Lamprechtshausen
  • S11 to Trimmelkam

NachtStern (“Night Star”)

Salzburg's night busses take you home quickly and conveniently after your night out, every Friday to Sunday and on all holidays. The night busses run from 11:15pm to 0:45am every 30 minutes from the stops Rathaus (town hall), Hanuschplatz or Theaterplatz in all directions.
